What has Teresa done?
Lots! I've done a ton of different things in my relatively short time on this planet. Let's start at the beginning... (or you can see what I'm most proud of!)
- Born March 20, 1982 in Arlington Heights, IL
- First Sentence: "Read book" (or so my parents tell me)
- 1986-1996 at St. Raymonds: had several wonderful teachers including Mrs. Brennan who taught me as much about life as about math
- 1996-1999 at Prospect HS: so many activities!
- Science Olympiad - State Champions & personal 3rd place medal at Nationals
- Math Team - Regional, State, & National Honors
- Tech Crew - Props Manager for several plays & musicals
- Yearbook - Proofs Editor, Indexer
- Service Club - tutoring, feeding the homeless, etc.
- Orchesis (dance), Spanish Club, French Club, Student Council, Animal Rights Club, & more
- Graduated high school early and off to California!
- 1999-2000 at California Institute of Technology
- Started the Caltech Cheerleading Squad - Go Beavers!
- Started the Caltech Dance Troupe, taught dance classes to adults, & organized a preschool summer dance program
- Got to take graduate level classes as a freshman!
- 2000-2001 at Pasadena City College
- Tutored in the PCC Math & Science Resource Room
- Worked at the Pasadena SCORE Tutoring Center
- 2001-2002 at Applause Dancewear as Asst Manager
- Also worked as a hostess at Jim Kelley's Pub, a tutor at Kaplan and the Del Mar SCORE center, and an office manager at StageDoor dance studio
- My First Business! - Selling Avon :-)
- 2003-2004 at UC-San Diego
- BA in Cognitive Science, including coursework in neurobiology, user interface design, programming, psychology, and Latin!
- Also taught dance at Salvation Army Joan Kroc Center
- 2004-2006 at Applause Dancewear as Owner
- Bought the store Feb 2004, and doubled sales over 30 months, and then sold the store Dec 2006
- Also tutored math & science at Brilliant Futures/High Bluff Academy and did bookkeeping for MegaFuel gas station
- 2007 in San Diego as a Student of Life & Independent Contractor
- January - March: Spent time with my parents, took teacher training with YogaFit, learned how to ballroom dance at Cheek2Cheek & how to belly dance with Sabrina, and volunteered at YogaFuzion
- April - Sept: Taught & office-managed at High Bluff Academy and nannied!
- Oct: Hawaii! Stayed a week on the Big Island at a raw food retreat at Yoga Oasis, then trekked around Maui in a friend's van for a week, and then went back to the Big Island for my cousin's wedding
- Nov & Dec : Back to nannying, and also worked in LA at American Girl Place for the holidays
- 2008 & 2009 in San Diego as an Educator and Educatee
- January - March: Spent time with my parents, nannied, and worked Spring Rush at the UCSD Bookstore!
- April - July: Tutored and taught at High Bluff Academy, including summer school - chemistry, physics, & algebra II
- Sept - Dec: Basically ran an elementary school (Administrative Coordinator at Innovations Academy)
- 2009: Back to High Bluff Academy again, including summer school - chemistry & early childhood development
- 2009 & 2010 in Los Angeles at A Mother's Haven in Encino
- Dec 2009: Bought the store!
